<image:caption>His Eminence the Second Kalu Rinpoche was born in 1990 in Darjeeling, India. The Second Kalu Rinpoche was recognized on March 25, 1992 by Tai Situ Rinpoche. His Holiness the Dalai Lama officially confirmed the recognition. In 1993, he was inducted into Samdrub Darjay Choling (Sonada). After his father passed away in 1999, he asked to live in the monastery of Bokar Rinpoche in order to grow and study under his direction. In 2004, he began the traditional three-year retreat, and in 2009, he received from Tai Situ Rinpoche all the transmissions of the Shangpa Kagyu lineage. On this occasion, the cycle of initiations of the lineage was conferred on him 108 times; he is now holder of this lineage. In 2010, Kalu Rinpoche traveled to the West and took charge of the meditation centers created by the first Kalu Rinpoche around the world. In 2014, he returned to Palden Shangpa La Boulaye in France to teach and to resume the tradition of Monlam Shangpa initiated by his predecessor. He did the same in the United States in 2019. Each year, Kalu Rinpoche gives initiations and teachings around the world. Michele Loew is an international yoga teacher who has been dedicated to the practice and science of yoga since 1999. <image:title>The Path of Yoga Retreat - Ashtanga Yoga — the inner practice</image:title>
<image:caption>The retreat works with two contemplative systems, the therapeutic breathing-and-movement methods of Ashtanga Yoga and meditation practices from the Indo-Tibetan Buddhist tradition. Drawing from these two traditions, the Path of Yoga Retreat offers students the tools for positive body-mind transformation, and insight into how to integrate their experience into their post-retreat lives. Students learn to work with sequenced poses and pranayama (manipulation of subtle neural energies with breath) as a way to make the body stronger and lighter, the nervous system more toned, and the mind calm and settled. This mode of practice naturally gives rise to contemplative insight and awareness, a state where actual transformation takes place. ——————————————————— Peace | Illustration by Fariba Azma</image:caption>

<image:title>The Path of Yoga Retreat - yoga nidra</image:title>
<image:caption>At the end of each day, Omid will lead yoga nidra sessions (except for the departure day). Yoga nidra, is not just a deep relaxation. It is rather a conscious relaxation. It allows us to access delta brainwaves, which are responsible for the healing and restoration that happens in our bodies during deep sleep. Activating delta brainwaves during yoga nidra allows our minds and bodies to rest while we're awake and fully conscious. We will experience a state of blissful awareness, effortlessly – melting away stress and tension.</image:caption>

<image:title>The Path of Yoga Retreat - talks on yoga philosophy and history</image:title>
<image:caption>Yoga is called the “inner science” because working with the physical body and the breath together makes possible awareness of our inner world of subtle emotions, motivations, and self-image. Gaining this kind of self knowledge and sensitivity is said to be the main goal of yoga, where it becomes possible to leave behind addictions and fears, craving and dislikes, and to embrace your best self. On the basis of such self awareness there is no limit to our healing and growth. Drawing on scholarly expertise and practical experience, John will lecture on a range of topics related to the nature and history of yoga. He will also address key questions concerning the purpose and goals of yoga practice, such as how to integrate yoga experience into the rest of life, and through yoga how to achieve maximum benefit for myself and for others. ——————————————————— Growth | Illustration by Fariba Azma</image:caption>
